Educational Educational Resources

The educational function of WPHP is two-fold: (1) providing educational programs, classes, or in-service programs at the request of hospitals, clinics, societies, various other entities, and the State of Washington, and (2) serving as an affiliated training site for the University of Washington School of Medicine.

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
WPHP has a gender specific approach to monitoring female healthcare practitioners.

The Washington Physicians Health Program is an affiliated training site for the University of Washington, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship. Dr. Meredith is a supervisor for this training site and is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the department. He is also active in the supervision of General Psychiatry Residents and is a lecturer who regularly presents material to medical students, residents, and faculty in the School of Medicine.


Dr. Meredith graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2001, completed a general psychiatry residency there in 2005, and then a fellowship in addiction psychiatry there in 2006. He was a on clinical staff at VA Puget Sound Healthcare System where he provided clinical care, and conducted clinical medication trials for alcohol dependence, cocaine dependence, and substance dependence. He served on the UW Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences’ academic faculty until coming to WPHP in April of 2010. While there, he earned the academic faculty teaching award in 2007 and served as VA Puget Sound’s Site Director for the School of Medicine’s 3rd year clerkship in psychiatry.
