Following the triage and corroboration from other sources of information, the individual is contacted and an appointment is made for the earliest opportunity to perform an assessment.
The purpose of the assessment is to determine the need for further evaluation or treatment. If neither evaluation nor treatment is necessary, WPHP provides endorsement that the practitioner can return to work. Evaluation is multidisciplinary and has as its purpose the development of a biopsychosocial formation and differential diagnosis. Once confirmation is made of the diagnosis, recommendations for treatment follow. Examples of diagnoses are chemical dependency, substance abuse, major depression and bipolar mood disorder.
Once treatment is successful, the client enters into a contract for monitoring of variable length from 1-5 years. Typical monitoring utilizes random bodily fluid and hair testing, behavioral monitoring in a professionally facilitated group, and a worksite monitor. WPHP then provides endorsements for the client to the appropriate disciplinary authority, if indicated, and to malpractice insurance carriers, managed care entities, and to others as requested.
