WPHP offers a variety of different programs for both chemical dependency and behavioral health conditions such as depression and neurological illness:
Addictive Illness, Other Mental Illness, and Co-Occurring Disorders WPHP provides initial assessment, intervention, referral, and monitoring services for potentially impaired practitioners who may be suffering from addictive illness, other mental illness or co-occurring disorders. Examples include an opioid addiction, a major depression, or a practitioner with both disorders. If indicated, practitioners are offered a choice of qualified facilities for evaluation and or treatment with the resources to fully explore the potential impairment in question. Typically they may continue treatment with their primary care physician, personal psychiatrist or therapist after completion of any indicated evaluation or treatment. Following evaluation or treatment, WPHP implements a comprehensive individualized contract that involves many recovery elements including:
1. Medication management, as indicated
2. Psychotherapy, as indicated
3. Worksite monitoring
4. Toxicology testing, as indicated
5. Both one on one meetings and facilitated groups, as indicated
6. Gender specific groups as available and as indicated
WPHP provides earned advocacy as appropriate for employment, insurance, and legal issues while continuing to monitor the compliance of clients as described above. WPHP reviews compliance reports from various agencies, worksite monitors, consultants, psychiatrists, and therapists. WPHP then provides earned advocacy for the client to the appropriate disciplinary authority, if indicated, and to malpractice insurance carriers, managed care entities, and to others as requested.
Physical and Neurological Disability
WPHP provides similar initial assessment, intervention, referral, and monitoring services for potentially impaired practitioners who do not have substance abuse/dependence or psychiatric illness but who may be suffering from a disabling physical or neurological condition. Examples would be multiple sclerosis or traumatic brain injury. Practitioners are offered a choice of qualified facilities for evaluation and or treatment, if indicated. Typically they may continue treatment with their personal physician and other specialists after completion of the evaluation or treatment. Following evaluation or treatment, WPHP implements a plan that involves:
1. Medication management
2. Worksite monitoring
3. Supportive psychotherapy, as indicated
WPHP provides earned advocacy regarding employment, insurance, and legal issues while continuing to monitor the compliance of clients as described above. WPHP reviews compliance reports from various agencies, worksite monitors, consultants, psychiatrists, and therapists. WPHP then provides earned advocacy for the client to the appropriate disciplinary authority, if indicated, and to malpractice insurance carriers, managed care entities, and to others as requested.
Stress and Burnout
WPHP provides similar initial assessment, intervention, referral, and monitoring services for potentially impaired practitioners who may be suffering from stress induced disorders. Frequently, WPHP is able to provide the practitioner with outpatient resources through which they may receive the help they need. In more serious instances, a more formal evaluation and treatment process may be indicated. Following or concurrent with any indicated evaluation and treatment, WPHP is able to provide monitoring if indicated. Such monitoring is individualized on a case by case basis and may include:
1. Medication management, if indicated
2. Psychotherapy and/or professional coaching
3. Worksite monitoring
4. Both one on one meetings and facilitated groups, as indicated
WPHP provides earned advocacy regarding employment, insurance, and legal issues while continuing to monitor the compliance of clients as described above. WPHP reviews compliance reports from various agencies, worksite monitors, consultants, psychiatrists, and therapists. WPHP then provides earned advocacy for the client to the appropriate disciplinary authority, if indicated, and to malpractice insurance carriers, managed care entities, and to others as requested.
Distressed Practitioner with Disruptive Behavior
WPHP provides similar initial assessment, intervention, referral, and monitoring services for potentially impaired practitioners who may be suffering from underlying issues which manifest as disruptive behavior in the workplace. WPHP is available to guide the medical staff and advise through the process of addressing such behavior. WPHP does not become formally involved with behavioral issues unless and until the medical staff has followed its bylaws, and stand ready to suspend privileges. At this critical juncture, WPHP is able to intervene with staff support. Practitioners are offered a choice of qualified facilities which specialize in disruptive behavior for evaluation and any indicated treatment. Following evaluation and treatment, WPHP implements a plan that involves:
1. Medication management, if indicated
2. Psychotherapy and professional coaching
3. Follow up 360° worksite evaluations
4. Follow up mediation by an organizational psychologist, if indicated
5. Both one on one meetings and facilitated groups, as indicated
